“The Man In The Moon” art by Violet Moore Higgins. Beautiful black and white drawing. This is the original page from a 1929 book: “Red Network Stories for Children”. Published by Saalfield Publishing Company, Akron, Ohio and New York. Printed in U.S.A. This page also includes the short poem: The Man in the Moon looked down at the earth, With a smile that was gay and pensive; “I’d like to visit that place,” he said, “But traveling’s so very expensive.”
I salvaged this page from the damaged book and matted it to 8″ x 10″ in a black embossed mat. See photo and scan attached. Would look great in children’s room.
There are so many wonderful drawings, sketches and artwork in many of these old books. I try to save some of the ones that interest me the most. Hope you see the same value in preserving some of this work that will probably be gone forever if we don’t take steps to preserve it.
Page is in good condition other that the yellowing that happens to lots of old paper. Materials I use are acid-free, so page should last for many years to come in same condition. I have mounted page and mat on white foamcore. It is ready to frame and enjoy. You are bidding on the original book page. It will not be copied in any way to sell again.
